Oakland City Police Officers are sporting pink badges this month in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. "Our motto is to protect and serve," said Police Chief Alec Hensley. "We are hoping that when someone sees the pink badge, it will serve as a reminder to women (and men) to do their self-exams and get their mammograms." Hensley said it's the first year the department has worn the badges and the community has responded positively to the bright pink addition. "There are so many people affected by this disease every year, this is our way of promoting awareness, early detection and hopefully donations for the cause."
